Top 5 Participating Schools to Receive $1,000 PE Grant
Loudoun County, VA – The 2025 Run The Greenway, Northern Virginia’s premier community race, is making it even easier—and more rewarding—for kids to get moving this year with the launch of its brand-new Healthy Kids Initiative. This initiative encourages Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) students to lace up their sneakers, join their school’s team, and raise funds for their favorite local nonprofits—all while earning a discounted race entry and the chance to win a $1,000 PE grant for their school.
Through this initiative, each LCPS school that signs up as an official partner of Run The Greenway will receive a unique school-specific code that students can use to register at a discounted rate. Every student who signs up not only contributes to their school’s total participation but also has the opportunity to run as part of a fundraising team, directly benefiting local charities that matter most to them.
To further incentivize participation, the five LCPS schools with the highest student involvement will each be awarded a $1,000 grant to support physical education programs, helping to keep kids active long after race day.
“The Greenway is committed to supporting our local schools, encouraging healthy habits, and giving back to the community,” said Terry Hoffman, spokesperson for the Dulles Greenway. “By partnering with LCPS, we’re not just inspiring kids to get outside and run—we’re creating opportunities for them to support meaningful causes, stay active, and make a real impact in their communities.”
The 2025 Run The Greenway will take place on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Loudoun Station and is themed “May the Fourth Be With You”. Open to runners, walkers, rollers and families of all fitness levels, the event continues to serve as a major fundraising opportunity for local nonprofits while promoting health and wellness across Loudoun County.
